Campfire Cookouts
Campfire cookouts and storytelling is a favorite with all ages at PSL Ranch. Sometimes Cookie adds a little too much gas to the fire, causing singed hair, minor burns, and every now and then the crisping of a careless camper; but overall it's a fun and safe pastime.
Kayaking
Kayaking allows campers to not only relax on Lake Rohret, but to also get some good exercise. Although Lake Rohret is dry except following a rare downpour, when it is flooded, campers can be assured they will have a week or two of deep water to enjoy this sport. Cassy recommends not kayaking when the lake is dry, as that would just be silly, and difficult! PSL Ranch has only recorded one kayaking fatality - and you guessed it, her name was Sally!
Flora Collecting
Collecting local flora for our eveining meals is another activity that not only tastes good; but has educational value. For instance, we teach you not to eat milkweed or Texas night shade as they are both poisonous and could lead to death! If you happen to collect one of our poisonous plants and somehow it is added to our soup, your mistake will become evident almost immediately. Most of the time there's not enough in the food to kill anyone (most of the time).
Critter Spotting
Marching around the ranch and spotting critters is one of our campers favorite activities! Whitetail and Axis deer, grey fox, coyotes, snakes, possums, and skunks are aboundant, and some don't run away when you approach them! Caution should be taken when approaching our cattle, rattlesnakes, and larger predators, as they sometimes take offense at our guests, or worse think of them as food! Don't fret, we've only lost a few campers to the local wildlife.
Shooting
PSL Ranch also provides a shooting range for our campers and guests who want to try their luck hitting the zombie targets Funny Boy placed downrange. GTCA campers are especially interested in our shooting courses, as most are from liberal states and have never touched (or even seen) a real gun.
Archery
PSL Ranch provides an excellent archery range for our visitors to practice this sport, or to train eager young campers in the art of hitting the target at which they are aiming. PSL Ranch’s archery instructor is no other than our resident inju….2.4% Native American, Shari Running Wild. Whatever tribe she hailed from, they knew how to shoot the eyes out of a rattlesnake, and that skill was passed down to her! It should be noted that Shari Running Wild is over 200% more Native American than Elizabeth Warren!
Recreational Activities
PSL Ranch offers a wide variety of mostly safe recreational activities for our campers and guests to enjoy. From campfire tales to kayaking, our campers are provided the proper equipment and instruction to enyoy the great Texas outdoors. In the event there is a mishap or accident, we also provide body retrieval and burial once the next of kin are notified. Check out some of our more popular activities below!
